What a summer! We’re wrapping up the summer & I can hardly believe it’s coming to a close.
The garden produced more than we could tolerate to eat or preserve & we were fortunate to give boatloads of zucchini, tomatoes, cucumbers, cantaloupe & butternut squash away. At one point I had over 200 jars of food in the 2nd pantry. Egg production is a little slow, but to be expected this time of year. What we haven’t torn out of the garden, we are letting die in the heat.
We’ve been taking frequent camping trips, acoustic singer/songwriter shows, and pretty much enjoying the AC. Summer here in Texas is in full swing. The kids have been able to spend a few days at each one of their grandparent’s houses.
School will start in 2 weeks, and we will be back to the daily grind of busy mornings, commutes, packing lunches, and tired kids (and parents) at the end of each day rushing to climb into bed at a decent hour to just do it all over again the next day.
I gave up on making laundry soap earlier this summer as it’s too hard on my hands (the process of making it), and line drying the clothes has come to an end since the line dry rotted in the sun.
Our plans for building a house in the country seem to be postponed everyday with this or that. For now it’s medical stuff. We’ll get to that spot in the country one day though.
How’s the summer treated you? Are you ready for the fall?
